How Is That Change Working So Far?

Reason TV's view of the change brought to Washington, DC by the Obama Administration:

The song on the video is "Winds of Change" by the German rock group the Scorpions. The song was released in 1990 and celebrates the dramatic changes taking place with the unexpected fall of Communism in Eastern Europe.

The fall of Communism was positive change that Western leaders (especially the US) let slip away in their continuing pursuit of world dominance. Those were heady days, when the future looked bright.

Today the world is once again falling into the darkness of big powerful governments that control their citizens.

Perhaps one day the world will again celebrate the demise of authoritarian government and the rise of individual freedom.

Here are two "Winds of Change" videos. First the original music video that starts with the division of Germany and ends with the fall of the Berlin Wall:

Second here is "Winds of Change" performed at Red Square in Moscow in 2003:

Here are the lyrics:

I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change

The world is closing in
And did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers
The future's in the air
I can feel it everywhere
I'm blowing with the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

Walking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever

I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

The wind of change blows straight
Into the face of time
Like a storm wind that will ring
The freedom bell for peace of mind
Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to say
Say!

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change
