A good video about the problems with big government. It explains why government grows, how big government is more hidden and less responsive to the individual.
Government grows because politicians declare every problem a "crisis" and propose solutions that give them and the government more control over our lives.
Government grows because people who believe they know the right way to live try and use government to impose their beliefs on everyone else.
From personal experience government grows because if a program appears to be successful it is given more funding to do more "good". If a program is not successful it is assumed the reason it failed is because it didn't receive enough funding, so its funding is also increased.
